The Best Gaming Monitors of 2025: Tested and Ranked

We spent three months testing fourteen monitors across price tiers. Here's what actually matters — and what's marketing noise.

The Best Gaming Monitors of 2025: Tested and Ranked

Buying a gaming monitor has never been more confusing. Manufacturers layer spec sheets with refresh rates, response times, panel types, HDR tier names, and sync technologies in ways designed to impress rather than inform. We tested fourteen monitors to cut through it.

What Actually Matters

Panel type matters more than refresh rate for most players. An IPS or OLED panel at 144Hz will look better and feel more responsive in practice than a TN panel at 360Hz, because contrast and colour accuracy affect perceived sharpness more than raw frame rate beyond a certain threshold.

OLED has arrived properly at the 27-inch desktop size class and the difference in contrast ratio — typically 1,000,000:1 versus 1,200:1 for IPS — is visible and meaningful in dark game environments.

Our top pick for most users remains a 27-inch 1440p OLED at 165Hz. The sweet spot of resolution, size, pixel density, and price has never been better. If budget allows, 4K OLED at 144Hz is genuinely breathtaking — but requires a GPU to match.
